Looks like it's been "rode hard and put away wet" but everything seems to work well. I'm not that familiar with Marlin shotguns so I need opinions on their price.The basic Model 55 Hunter was made from 1954-1965, with either full or adjustable choke. It sounds like that's the one you have although the standard barrel length was 28" on that model. Standard value in in the $100-125 range.
