hello! elvarg recently recieved a buff to its helath and max damage, thats why there is a difference between the elvarg you are fighting and the one in the series you watch. i would reccomend you upgrade your weapon to an adamant lognsword, as it is a tier 40 weapon, ratheer than the tier 30 weapon you are using. you would do a bit more damage ... I beat Elvarg recently with my F2P HCIM at 50 attack and 30 defence with rune mace and full mith. Assuming Elvarg has no hidden weakness, I suspect melee is easier simply because Elvarg uses her dragonfire less often when you are in melee range. Dragonfire does a lot more damage than her melee attacks, and it drains prayer.

Tier 30 (such as mithril) should be fine, but anything below is going to be pushing it. Also, you should pick the correct combat class. For most of the people doing this quest, melee is the best way to go. Despite having no listed weakness or strength, Elvarg has a much stronger magic defense than melee defense. Range can be an option.

Or, you could have somebody weaken Elvarg for you and then finish him off.
