The only way Mycelium bests mold is if it gets transfered to water agar so there is no nutrients for the contamination to feed off of. Leaving the Mycelium to grow on it instead of the contamination. Long time lurker, first time trying to make a post that will hopefully shed some light on an issue I've found quite difficult to master. Quite commonly I get fluffy/tomentose mycelium growing in tufts on an otherwise rhizomorphic plate, and I've never been quite sure if its some sort of white mold or just a patch of different genetics.
