My Prairie 400 (liquid cooled) has absolutely no fins on the head or cylinder. If you have any at all, it is the 300cc. The 300cc is oil/air cooled so that "mini radiator" you spotted would be the oil cooler. If you look at the module with the terminals pointing down, the two on the left go to the pickup coil (black and blue on my '86). I have a 2001 Prairie 400 that has some kind of an electrical problem. I put in a new battery and when I turn it on I don't get any indication that there is any life in the ATV. Yes, I have it in neutral and the key is in the on position and the run switch is on.2002 Prairie 300 4x4 - the starter button stopped working. I have systematically looked at the issue from the button itself down to the solenoid on to the starter and the battery. For the life of me I have no idea what is the problem. The starter button shows it has voltage reaching it. The battery is good (it works fine on my Praire 400).

It's probably the spring loaded gear selector fork under the shifter assy behind the rear head. it's VERY easy for one side of that spring mechanism to fall off when assembling. this way you don't get a full throw when putting it in gear with the hand shifter. Unplug it and check the wires for power. One should have power. If neither has power with the ignition on then check the fuses. If one does have power then jump it to the other. If the fan comes on, the temp switch is bad. If it doesn't, with the wires still jumped, check for power at the fan. If there is power, the fan is no good.2. I purchase a 1999 Kawasaki KVF400 Prairie most of it is in good condition. The main problem that I am having is with the reverse. When I start the ATV I can engage the reverse first (R-light comes on) give it the gas but will not move. Start ATV engage forward first works fine, go to nutral fine, now it will not even engage to reverse.
