Here we present a brief introduction to Beretta Choke Tubes Families and markings. Every shotgun has a different type (Family) of barrels, and every barrel is only compatible with chokes made specifically for its Family. The main Families are four: Mobilechoke, Optima-Choke, Optima-Choke Plus, or Optima-Choke HP.
Choke identification will be found as small stars & dashes stamped on the LH side of the rear of the barrels near the extractors, covered up by the receiver when the barrels are closed. This system is similar to the current Browning Citori firearms made by Miroku with the exception of the skeet choking. To do this, you need a large piece of paper or cardboard placed at 40 yards. Draw a central aiming point and shoot at it from that distance. Find the center of the pattern on the target and draw a 30 inch circle. I do this by attaching a 15” string to a sharpie and holding the other end in the center of the pattern.
