Feb 2, 2017 · Estoc is the best one in the game because: 1) It has highest damage per-hit of all rapier. 2) It has the highest reach eleminating the problems that i have with any other rapier. 3) It has standart / slash damage horizontal AOE R2 attacks unlike any other rapier, making it the ultimate rapier to rule them all. Whenever someone invades me, I, for the most part, cheese them mercilessly with but a few simple light stabs from Estoc. It's absolutely insane how much damage it does, in both PvE and PvP, and I've yet to fight anyone else who uses it. I'm the only person I've run into who seems to use the glory that is Bestoc.

My guess is that the tracking somehow favors stabby weapons in laggy conditions, this doesn't apply just to Estoc but Rapier too. The movesets are like the inverse of eachother: Estoc has poke R1 and sweep R2, Balder has sweep R1 and poke R2. Makes for some amazing versatility.
