I checked all of the passages in the carb. The only one that I cannot get cleaner through is the idle circuit passage on the bottom half of the carb. Folks recently rebuilt my carb on 1964 Ford 2000 4 cyl gas tractor and now need to dial it in. Got idle set no issues. Now the Ford shop manual says to bring engine up to operating temperature, remove any three spark plug wires, open the throttle to full throttle setting and adjust the main needle until highest operating rpm is obtained.Step 1: Remove engine air filter. Locate and remove the engine air filter and housing in order to access the carburetor. This may require the use of hand tools, however, many times the air filter and housing are secured using only a wing nut that can often be removed without using any tools. Step 2: Adjust the air fuel mixture. According to the service manual, the float should be set at 1 5/16. To check it, I set the carb upside down and measured from the bottom of the top half of the carb to the bottom of the float.
